My name is Mara Shepherd and I am of average height, but look large to an ant. I enjoy this God-like sense of power, the same feeling I have when I get to pick how the story ends. Growing up in California I witnessed massive wildfires and flooding that shaped the environmental and feminist perspective found in a lot of my writing.

I went to a live reading of this book when I was at AWP in Philadelphia. It was the best reading I've ever been to (more on that later!) and I immediately got the book on pre-sale. A funny, thoughtful, and honest collection of stories that make me feel not-so-alone as a woman in this crazy world.
